Do not turn a blind eye on "The Blind Side"

When I first heard about the new movie "The Blind Side" I had absolutely no interest in seeing it. Although Sandra Bullock is one of my favourite actresses, I've never been into the whole "my life changed because of a sport"- especially the boring Football- kind of movies. But my perspective completely changed when I was dragged into theatres to watch it with a friend.

It is most definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen. In my entire life. "The Blind Side" is a touching, inspirational, heart-warming, sad yet happy, amazing story.

The magic all begins with Big Mike and the little town of Memphis. With a dead father, a mother who has been addicted to cocaine since he was born, Big Mike has been through many foster homes struggling to get an education. We meet Big Mike in his grade twelve year, he's sleeping on the couch of the high school janitor of an upper-class Christian private school who's trying to get his own son to attend his school. The school's football coach notices Mike playing basketball while waiting, and immediately wants him on the team. Once Mike gets accepted, the janitors wife immediately wants him out, and Big Mike is left homeless and lonely as the only African-American at his new school.

One night after school, Leigh Anne and Sean Touhy's younger son S.J. recognized Big Mike from school as he's walking alone in the rain- dressed in only shorts and a tee shirt. The good upper-class Christian family that the Touhy's are, immediately offer Mike a place in their home, unknowingly that this kind deed will change Mikes- and their family's life forever.

The lesson of facing fears, overcoming struggles and pursuing your dreams isn't the only reason why this is an amazing movie. Knowing that "The Blind Side" a true story, and Big Mike really does exist makes it even more engaging. Newcomer to the big screen, Quinton Aaron who plays Big Mike was perfect for the role, Sandra Bullock nailed the typical southern Christian mother, and surprise- singer Tim McGraw did an outstanding job. The best part to me, was at the very end of the movie when they showed actual pictures of Michael Oher and the Touhy family. It was amazing how similar the actors looked and dressed to the real family, it was the perfect final touch to an outstanding film.
