Every thing we like or dislike, is just based on our point of view. We think it may be about being right and wrong, but how can you really tell who's RIGHT and who's WRONG? Every single thing in the world. It's all just our own opinion.
So who are we to judge?
I am so confused, and will always be confused on why people are so homophobic- still to this day and it's 2010! It's understandable if you have certain religious or just moral beliefs that disagree with same sex marriages, but when it really comes down to it people are people. If someone loves someone for who they are, regardless gender, why should it be such a big deal? Just because it's traditionally “suppose” to be a man and a women standing at the alter, doesn't necessarily mean that's RIGHT, and doesn't make same-sex marriages WRONG. If someone is in love with someone and they want to express it by getting married, how does it effect anyone else? It's so hypocritical and contradicting for people to not legally allow same-sex marriage. This is no better than RACISM. If you don't like it, don't agree with it- that's fine, just don't pay attention then.
Do gay people go around being heterophobic? No, didn't think so. And if they did, we would all laugh in their faces, so how is that any different than the other way around? It's not, and it's hypocritical to not allow gay people to get married. How would you feel if straight people weren't allowed to wed? It's not like these people choose to be gay, we don't choose to be straight. It is going against all equality and human rights and freedoms by not allowing same-sex couples to be wed. Gay people are actually a lot more accepting than most people if you think about it they love people for WHO THEY ARE, for the person, not judging anything else. It is disturbing that still to this day, that more than half the country won't accept legal same-sex marriage. And it is sickening how gay people are continuously being criticized and judged, when it doesn't effect youso why do you care?
I have seen a few of my gay guy friends in high school be judged and made fun of, and I believe it is extremely wrong and hypocritical. But again, this is just my opinion. Like everything I have said, I am not necessarily RIGHT but I am also not WRONG. When it all comes down to it, it is quite simple.
a) If you don't agree, that's fine it doesn't effect you and it should NOT matter
b) Everyone should be entitled to equal rights
c) Put yourself in their shoes for just a second
“Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and I don't live to be. But, before you start pointing fingers, make sure your hands are clean.”
- Bob Marley
I hope that one day we can live in a world without any hate, with equality and with love.
